CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS

At writing time we have started to learn about writing 'Character Descriptions'.  We are learning to use adjectives and similes to make our writing descriptive and interesting to read.  Here are some super sentences from our Gruffalo Character Descriptions:

"The Gruffalo has orange eyes like the morning sky" (Emily)

"He has a grass green poisonous wart on the end of his nose and a tongue as black as the darkest night" (Jai)

"His tummy rumbles like thunder" (Josh)

"His dangerous tusks could cut a human in half" (Otto)

"He has a big fat belly looking for something to eat" (Oakley)

"His claws are as sharp as swords and his eyes are as orange as the leaves in autumn" (William)

"His mouldy teeth make his breath smelly" (Liam)

"He has orange eyes that glow like fire" (Farhaal)

"His claws are sharper than a knife blade but his teeth are blunt" (Oliver S)

"His back is as deadly as a sharp field of thorns" (Oliver D)

"His ears are black like dark chocolate" (Danielle)

ODD AND EVEN NUMBERS

This week in maths we have been talking about odd and even numbers.  We have learned a very important trick to look at the last numeral in a number to find out whether it is even or odd.  Many of the Room 11 students can work out even and odd numbers into the millions!  What a great effort!
